Tire Repair Tips

1. WHY IS CLEANING OF THE INNERLINER IMPORTANT ?
Improper cleaning of the inner liner may cause:

Immediate lifting of the Repair Unit due to contamination Lifting of the Repair unit in the future Contamination of the buffing tool may cause immediate, and later tire Repair failures

Mold release lubricants Tire sealants Tire coolants Tire Ballast fluids Tire balancing compounds

2. WHY IS BUFFING THE INNERLINER IMPORTANT ?
Improper buffing of the inner liner may cause:

Repair failure to the lack of adhesion Separation of the Repair Unit from the inner liner due to an uneven surface

NOTE:

Use a slow speed buffer less than 5000RPM Buff to an RMA # 1- # 2 texture Use the correct rasp for the application Remove buffing dust with brass brush then vacuum

3. WHEN SHOULD THE PRE-BUFF CLEANER BE USED ?
Pre-buff cleaner should be used to clean the inner liner before the mechanical buffing process.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE PRE-BUFF CLEANER?

To remove any contaminates, including mold release lubricates that remain in the tire.

NOTE:

Do not apply the Pre-Buff Cleaner to the buff texture after you have buffed the tire

4. WHY IS PROPER CEMENT APPLICATION IMPORTANT ?
To insure an optimum bond of the repair !!

WHICH CEMENT SHOULD I USE ?

The Blue Cement should be used with any Rema Repair product that has a Blue Bonding Layer.

NOTE:

Do not mix one Repair Manufacturer's product with another manufacturer's product.

CAUTION:

It is important that a thin even coat of cement is applied to assure proper drying. Improper application may cause; Lifting of the Repair Unit Gassing under the Repair Unit causing it to lift

5. WHY IS CEMENT DRYING TIME IMPORTANT ?
Improper drying of the cement may cause:

Immediate lifting of the Repair Unit Gassing under the Repair Unit causing it to lift Separation of the Repair Unit from the inner liner Rolling, or moving of the Repair Unit during the stitching process

CAUTION:

Do not force dry the cement by using:
  • Compressed air
  • A heat gun
  • A hair dryer
  • Heat lamp
NOTE:

Climatic conditions may effect the drying time of the cement. High temperature and humidity may require longer drying time.

6. WHY IS STITCHING IMPORTANT ?
Improper stitching may cause:

Immediate lifting of the Repair Unit Lifting of the Repair Unit in the future

7. WHY IS DRILLING AND FILLING OF THE INJURY IMPORTANT ?
Failure to drill and fill the injury may cause:

Difficulty installing the Stem or the Plug Patch The Rubber Stem may be cut, due to the steel remaining in the injury channel Lack of adhesion to the rubber stem in the injury channel due to damaged steel remaining in the injury channel Rusting of the steel belt package due to moisture causing separation between the steel belts and the casing

8. WHY IS APPLICATION OF THE REPAIR SEALANT IMPORTANT ?
Restores inner liner integrity Air will not migrate into the casing causing tire failure

9. CAN A RADIAL REPAIR UNIT BE USED IN A BIAS TIRE ?
NO !!!! Always use the appropriate Repair Unit dictated by the tire construction and the injury size
